Kids Try Store-Bought vs Homemade Cake
Released on 08/08/2019
[Man] It's ice cream cake.
Oh I love that.
I used to have that when I was like four.
And like I would usually hide the cake up in my room.
And then my parents were saying like,
what is the white stuff all over your mouth?
And I tell 'em like, it's pasta.
[upbeat music]
[dinging]
It's cake, okay.
Can I do this one? Yeah.
So I see chocolate cake.
The frosting looks very rich and chocolatey.
The non-chocolate cake.
The frosting smells like spinach.
I think this one is store-bought
because it has a pretty design.
And I don't think a person at home could do that.
Can I eat it?
I never really liked cake.
Or cupcakes, or brownies.
[Man] So we invited you to do a Kids Try about cake
and you don't like cake.
No, not really.
It's good.
[Man] What's it taste like?
Homemade.
Actually no, store-bought.
[Man] Why do you think it's store-bought?
[gurgling]
What are those noises, those guttural noises mean?
It's not fresh.
It tastes like expired milk.
Wow. Don't ask
how I tasted that before.
I'm honestly stuck right now,
whether to choose B or C as homemade.
This one tastes homemade too, to be honest.
Like it doesn't taste like a cake
you would buy from the store.
This one.
[Man] Why is that one homemade?
It's cake.
It's chocolate.
It's every child's dream.
I think B is homemade.
I'm gonna go with C being homemade.
I'm gonna start with the B first.
Ah hah.
How is this homemade?
I knew it.
It was the frosting that made me think it.
I was about to not go with that one.
So that was close.
[quirky music]
Okay, this is definitely homemade.
Right.
[Girl] It smells like cake mix.
Yummy.
It smells like banana cake.
So what I look like is the sides of it
is like straight.
And like right over here has like sugar stuff.
I think it's store-bought.
I think this is also store-bought
because it has big holes in it.
[Man] Are big holes good?
Mm, when my dad makes bread, yeah.
[Man] Oh, tell me about your dad's bread.
My dad makes bread.
Okay this tastes a little bit sour.
This is my favorite.
It's so soft.
Yum.
I think it's store-bought
because the glaze stuff on it is really hard.
Which one do you think is store-bought?
I mean homemade.
That one?
This one also.
You can only choose one.
This one.
I think C is homemade.
Oh my gosh.
Okay.
This one's homemade?
I don't know how to read.
It says, store-bought.
Okay, so.
Homemade.
When I was tasting C, look it didn't have taste.
So like, I picked C.
And then I was wrong.
[Man] So do you feel like you've been tricked?
Yeah, a lot.
[upbeat music]
I think this one's homemade.
It looks plain.
And healthy.
[Man] Is cheesecake healthy?
Yes, 'cause cheese is healthy.
It looks like a piece of butter.
Actually it smells like cheese cream.
Right, whatever you call it.
[Man] Cream cheese?
Oh. Ooh.
This one looks yummy.
Tastes like yucky cheese.
[Man] Do you think it's homemade or store-bought?
Store-bought.
Very sweet.
But gross.
This one looks homemade and that one looks homemade.
But this one tastes homemade.
It tastes like bread and creamy stuff.
I think it's still store-bought.
And this one's homemade.
I think that A is homemade.
This is homemade because it has the crust on top.
Homemade.
I knew that A was homemade because it tasted like
sweet cream cheese in a bad way.
[Man] And what did B and C taste like?
They taste weird.
[jazzy music]
Well.
Looks like a muffin almost.
I think this is store-bought.
This one has a lot of white sugar on it.
I think it's homemade because I wouldn't usually
use white sugar with it.
I would usually use black sugar.
Ooh, it's hard.
Geez, very hard.
I can't even get in it.
[rattling]
Mm.
That doesn't taste like it's poisoned.
Okay, this is super crunchy.
Almost like it has like crunchy stuff inside.
I definitely don't have this one in the picture.
Because it's so hard at the top.
And it's very dry and pretty bland,
it doesn't really have a flavor.
So I think I'm gonna go with A as my guess of the homemade.
Which one is homemade is either A or B.
I don't know which one is homemade.
Between this one and this one.
This has like less sugar.
And this one is super crunchy.
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
So this one.
A is store-bought.
You got to kidding me.
If I'm wrong.
What?
Ya got to kidding me.
Yes.
I knew it because my mom makes crunchy stuff a lot.
I was like, I know my mom has to make crunchy stuff.
[quirky music]
Oh, I'm gonna get the biggest piece.
It smells like chocolate and whipped cream.
And it's on my nose.
I think this one is homemade
because it's flat--
This is so hard to pick up.
And it's very hard to cut.
The bottom part has a lot of chocolate.
And then, like at the back there's like
a little bit of sprinkles and stuff.
People love chocolate, so like,
that's why I think it's homemade.
This tastes really good.
With lots of whipped cream.
The reason why I think that one is store-bought
is because I've seen it in a store before.
Okay, this one is too minty.
This is very hard to bite.
I think it's from a store.
Because it's really cold, and it has a lot of ice cream.
And it has like a chewy flavor.
I think A is homemade because it has a lot of chocolate.
I think the B is homemade.
I think this one is homemade.
Yes!
C was my favorite cake.
[Man] Why?
Because it has some cookies and cream,
chocolate, and really really, well,
a lot and a lot of whipped cream.
I need to go to the bathroom.
Bye-bye.
[Man] Cut.
