Boost your detox with some potent and bright beet juice. I love the pretty color of beets and their sweet and earthy flavor. The ginger adds a kick and some anti-inflammatory benefits. The lemon makes it all come together. And don't worry; I didn't forget about the greens either. A cup of kale should round things off perfectly. To good health!

Beet Booster

As you can see from the beet's incredibly bright color, this root vegetable is loaded with antioxidants. The purple pigment in beets is called betacyanin and can have great liver benefits—it actually helps increase the level of detoxifying enzymes in the liver. This certainly makes beet juice the perfect hangover helper! Recent studies are also confirming that beets can have a nice blood pressure-lowering effect. So, go ahead and chill out with a glass of beet juice.

Ingredients

2 beets
1 lemon, peeled
1 1/2-inch slice fresh ginger
1 carrot
1 cup or 3 leaves kale (stems included)

Preparation

  1. Put all the ingredients through a juicer. Alternate between harder foods, like beets and carrots, and kale to help move everything through smoothly.
