[Narrator] Checking doneness.
To check if the turkey is done,
insert a meat thermometer or instant read thermometer
deeply into a thigh.
This is the thickest part of the turkey,
so it'll give you the most accurate reading.
Make sure that the thermometer does not hit the bone
or come out the other side.
It should read 170 Fahrenheit.
If the turkey has not reached this temperature,
return it to the oven.
Cook another 20 minutes for every 10 degrees it's off,
and don't forget to let your turkey rest
for at least 20 minutes before carving.
