If you clicked on this story thinking, "What makes the best gifts for sisters any different from the best gift for brothers?" hear us out—you absolutely can (and should!) buy your brother something from this list. Everyone loves sharp knives, good tea, and nice dishes. I have, however, specifically done extensive research into cooking and dining related gifts for sisters, namely by having sisters and meddling in their kitchens whenever I get the chance.

Here are all my picks for the best gifts for sisters. Also known as all the things I would gift and then definitely steal back from them if we were still kids, including an inky pasta serving bowl and a chic flask to get through all the family holiday parties.

Dressed Up Dishes

Handmade Pasta Bowls

I've had my eye on this set of shallow bowls for a while—they're the perfect gift for my youngest sister's first “grown up” apartment. Etsy says these handmade bowls are pasta sized, which I think will fit her post-grad diet perfectly.

A Wine Book That's Fun to Read

Wine for Normal People

My older sister and I grew up in a winemaking family—harvest was always the best weekend of the year. Still, despite growing up around wine, reading this book has shown me I have more to learn. Schneider, who recently clued us into the best wine glasses to buy, breaks down the topic in in a way that's fun and digestible. I'm gifting it to my sister alongside a favorite bottle of wine, Epi's favorite wine stain remover, and the hope that we can do some follow up “research” together at a wine bar soon.

Better Olive Oil Storage

Farmhouse Pottery Cruet

I love the cloudy blue of this hand-thrown cruet—and that the removable stainless steel spout makes for easy cleaning. Paired with a beautiful bottle of olive oil, this cruet looks great on the dinner table and keeps your oil fresher longer.

A Beautiful Blade

Miyabi Birchwood Knife

Miyabi knives tend to do very well in our product tests thanks to their sharp, durable blades, lightweight handles, and shining good looks. This one has an extra-stylish creamy birch handle. It's a santoku knife, which makes it a great gift for a sibling who has a chef's knife and a paring knife and wants something in between.

An Indoor Grill Alternative

Lodge Cast-Iron Grill Pan

A grill pan is a game changer for the apartment dwellers amongst us (like my downtown Chicago-based sister). A grill pan by our favorite cast iron skillet maker coupled with a smoky seasoning like smoked pimenton paprika from single-origin spice purveyor Burlap & Barrel means she'll be on her way to Grilled Vanilla French Toast and Sticky Grilled Chicken in no time.

A Soothing Tea Blend

Golden Flourish Tea

This delicate blend of organic herbal tea combines some of my favorite ingredients: chamomile, holy basil, and lemon balm, and every purchase supports a female- and POC-run business.

A Flask Fit for a Modernist

Georg Jensen Sky Hip Flask

I thought a flask was sort of a silly, outdated thing, until I saw this stunner designed by Aurélian Barbry for Georg Jensen. It holds five ounces, so if the lucky recipient prefers a glass of wine to a swill of scotch, that'll fit nicely inside too. And for anyone who doesn't feel swashbuckling enough to tote a flask around, this also looks awfully nice as a bar accent.

Upgraded Salt and Pepper Grinders

Menu Salt and Pepper Grinder

Modernist matte salt and pepper grinders are a nice upgrade from the buy-once-and-toss-it kind I spotted in my sister's cabinet last visit. Bonus: the grinder portion is at the top of each mill, so you won't have any rings of peppery dust on the table between uses.
