Guys, Gilmore Girls is coming back to television (well, to Netflix) on Friday, November 25th, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Despite the not-that-funny trailer and the stilted promo shots, I'll always be grateful for the opportunity to take another trip back to Stars Hollow. But I'm not just excited to revisit the firecracker banter of Lorelai and Rory or see how Emily's holding up with the passing of Richard. At long last, I'll be reunited with my culinary spirit animal, the maniacally obsessive chef of the Dragonfly Inn (and Lorelai's BFF), Sookie St. James.
Because even though Sookie is technically a chef, she has far more in common with avid home cooks. Are you a Sookie in the kitchen? There's only one way to find out. Check to see if you display any of these nine signs of a dangerously obsessed home cook.
You might not have a food critic named Lucien evaluating your cooking, but the folks you cook for are vociferous in their praise.
Territoriality goes hand in hand with Sookie-level obsession. Here, Sookie drowns her indignation in cocktails when she discovers that her husband Jackson is deep-frying the Thanksgiving turkey on their lawn.
Hey, if you cook often enough, it'll happen.
Even the classic dishes at Luke's diner weren't immune to a little bit of constructive criticism from Ms. St. James.
It's not discovering the cure for cancer, but for one brief, shining moment, it sure feels that way.
From an absurd number of layers to a fancy praline buttercream to a shockingly accurate replica of the birthday girl, you've amazed people with your celebration cakes.
Because why should you resist praising exquisite ingredients, right to their faces?
When you're in the cooking trenches, weird stuff happens. And sometimes it can be hard to explain.
Because running out just isn't an option.
