Joseph Hernandez head shot - Epicurious

Joseph Hernandez

Associate Director, Drinks

Joseph has covered the intersection of food, wine, travel, and culture at The Chicago Tribune, SevenFifty Daily, Thrillist, and Wine Enthusiast, among others. Most recently, he held the position of senior editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer, but before that, he helmed the research department at Bon Appétit and Epicurious for about a year and a half. Now back, he strategizes and plans all beverage coverage for Condé's food brands. Joseph once served as vice-chair and regional chair for the James Beard Awards Restaurant and Chefs committee, where he worked alongside other reporters, editors, and restaurant critics to identify and celebrate the industry’s talented leaders and innovators. A fellow of The Poynter Institute’s Leadership Academy and The National Critics Institute, he has served as a guest panelist, lecturer, and speaker for the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers and The Chef’s Conference, among others. Holding several wine certifications, including an honorary knighthood(?!) with the Brotherhood of Port Winemakers, Joseph’s work has been published by Eater, Condé Nast Traveler, and others. Raised in both Southern California and Chicago, he now lives with his husband and their ornery orange cat, Bingley, in Brooklyn, and aspires to be a better plant dad. Please, don’t call him Joe.
