I'm Kyler Serfass, and I work here at Brooklyn Homebrew.

And I'm gonna show you how to home-brew beer.

The first thing you're gonna need is a recipe kit.

This is a partial-mash recipe kit

that will get you brewing five gallons of beer quickly.

There's malted-barley extract,

hops, yeast, and priming sugar.

As well as instructions for brewing.

Before you can start brewing,

you need to get your grains crushed.

Usually your local Homebrew store will do it for you.

There you go.

One of the most important things that you'll need

is an equipment kit.

The most common here at the store are the essentials,

and the introductory kit.

This is a great way to start because

it has everything included, all in one box.

You just open it up, follow the instructions,

and start home-brewing.

You'll need a few basic pieces of equipment.

The first is a fermentor, either glass or plastic.

This is a glass carboy, five gallons in size.

You'll need an airlock for allowing CO2 to escape,

and not allowing oxygen to get in.

You'll need an auto-siphon,

or some sort of siphon device

to transfer from vessel to vessel.

You'll need a hydrometer for measuring

the specific gravity and alcohol of your beer.

You'll need a thermometer for controlling your temperatures.

You'll also eventually need a capper, bottle caps,

and bottles to finish up your beer.

And probably most importantly, you'll need some sanitizer.

And that's basically all you need to brew a batch of beer.
