It's almost Mother's Day, so I'm just going to brag about my mom for a second: She is a master in the kitchen when it comes to everything from banana bread to boeuf bourguignon. She spends hours simmering Sunday sauce. And she makes magically fluffy scrambled eggs.
A mom like mine obviously deserves the best kitchen-related Mother's Day gifts (I learned long ago that she has no use for surplus novelty aprons). Here are the ingredients, gadgets, and dishware I think she'll actually love this year. Your mom will like them, too—even if her scrambled eggs aren't nearly as magical as my mom's scrambled eggs.
Wonder Valley Olive Oil
This extra-virgin olive oil is made from a buttery blend of young olives harvested in Lake County, CA. Wonder Valley promises this year’s EVOO has a bright, herbaceous, and peppery flavor, which we think is perfect for tossing with salad greens or drizzling on crusty bread.

Ichendorf Milano Green Oil Bottle
Wonder Valley olive oil comes in a bottle beautiful enough for your mom's counter, but there’s something so magical about this Italian oil bottle. The soft green color is perfect for springtime in any kitchen. Plus, decanting your oil into a bottle makes it easier to pour out a controlled amount—and it takes up less space on the counter.

W&P Ceramic Porter Storage Bowl
Does your mom bring her lunch to work every day? She’ll love this microwave-safe ceramic bowl, perfect for pasta dishes, grain bowls, or dinner leftovers (incidentally, it won our test of the best adult lunch boxes). It’s designed with a protective silicone wrap, secure plastic lid, and a snap-tight strap. Plus, this bowl comes in a bunch of sophisticated colors so it feels more like eating out of a real bowl at home than a sad Tupperware desk lunch.

Vinglacé Stainless Steel Wine Cooler
Your mom will never have to drink room temperature Pinot Grigio (or seltzer, or Champagne) again thanks to this double-walled cooler. The top is adjustable, so it fits bottles of almost any size. It will keep her beverage chilled for hours, and the sleek design won’t look out of place on her dinner table. And since the cooler is portable, she can take it wherever she’s spending happy hour.

Marble Cheese Knives
My mom doesn’t do a ton of entertaining, but every time she has guests over she can never find more than one cheese knife. I’m planning on solving that problem this year with this well-priced set of three. The flat-edged knife is perfect for soft cheeses, the spade is ideal for hard ones, and the fork can be used for both.
BUY IT: Marble Cheese Knives, $35 at Sur La Table
Stackable Bodega Glasses
These versatile drinking glasses are inspired by ones found in northern Spain. You may think your mom has a full stash of basic drinking glasses, but if she doesn't have these she's missing out. Since they come in three sizes, you can use them for everything from ice cream sundaes to crafted cocktails. Plus—be honest—her collection of drinking glasses has probably been dwindling since you came into this world (I break one almost every time I go home).

Color Burst Enamel Serving Tray
This vibrant tray is perfect for serving grilled vegetables, sweet-and-savory fruit salads, and really anything. It’s dishwasher and oven safe, so it’s a great oven-to-table option. And since these trays are hand-painted, no two are alike.

Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Gold Tea
This is our favorite tea hands down—and we think your mom will love it, too. Gift it to her along with some homemade scones and clotted cream. It’s strong and smooth, perfect for drinking any time of day. It’s converted coffee aficionados into tea lovers, so regardless of your mom's caffeine preferences, she should give Yorkshire Gold a shot.

Save Me The Plums: My Gourmet Memoir by Ruth Reichl
