
Riaz Phillips

Riaz Phillips is an award-winning writer, video maker and photographer. Born and raised in London and now based in Berlin, Riaz self-published and released his first book Belly Full: Caribbean Food in the UK in 2017, for which he was marked as one of the Observer Food Monthly 50 “Things we Love” annual list, and awarded a Young British Foodie (YBF) Award. When not moonlighting in kitchens or bars, his freelance writing can be found in the Evening Standard, Vice, Eater and Resy among other publications and blogs.
His YouTube channel of short films and mini-docs, focused on food and travel, has garnered millions of views. In 2020, he edited the Community Comfort cookbook, a collection of over 100 global recipes from cooks of immigrant backgrounds raising funds for the families of Covid-19 victims in their own community. Through his works Riaz has been featured on Masterchef, the BBC News, ITV News, Channel 4 News and Channel 5 News. Follow his food journey @riazphillips on most platforms.
